Xmas 2013

Merry Christmas 2013

From Brad, Gwen, Odin, Cyrus, and Drake Myers

What was new? Gilligan and Skipper died. I wrote a book and it died. We got a cat and it died.

What’s new now? Drake is 7, Cyrus 11, Odin 13. The family is healthy, happy, and laughy.

kevinDrake still entertains us with his view of the world. He still has that innocent description of things around him. Like how he described Friday from Saturday’s perspective, “Not last Friday, yesterday’s Friday.” Or my new favorite which just happened 10 minutes ago while Drake was losing a tooth:

DrakeCan you see the thread?

Me: “Why? Do you mean…”

Drake: “Because it’s almost out and should be hanging by its thread.” He’s quick witted, enjoys basketball, and helps around the house. He looks you in the eyes and speaks with you and he’s super fun to be around all the time.

Trooths:  He still has that vicious mean streak I mentioned last year. Sort of a blood lust like when you introduce raw meat to a dog and wished you hadn’t. Look at that grin from his second grade picture. Chilling! I’m pretty certain only serial killers button all the way to the top. He’s cute and funny, even charming, but so were all the famous top dogs in his ‘field.’ He doesn’t smoke or drink alcohol any more, but he occasionally asks, “What’s the deal with that blood bus thing? I saw it at the mall. How do we get it to come to our house? Is it like the ice cream man?”

Don’t believe me? Well, we loved Kevin very much and we were pretty certain a coyote got him- CERTAIN, I tell you! But then, someone sent us this picture

The bright side: Kevin spent 8-10 more hours in our home.

kevinCyrus is cute and funny, smallish and healthy. He loves to cook and bake and still loves his video games. He’s doing great in sixth grade and making great choices. Years ago I was excited because he was still small enough for me to cuddle him—still true…And he says he likes it! He likes to build things and knit which is great, but there’s more to this soft eyed darling…

Trooths: We think he’s a player. That goofy look in his school pic with that bowl-haircut is just for his parents to think he’s a sweet little boy. But look what he brings to the table: He can cook and knit; he can build and make repairs around the house. See over there à that’s an

apron- with a picture of him on it! Unheard of! But there’s a darker secret we recently learned that has us a bit concerned, but also a little excited for the opportunity. Apparently, our son negotiated a modeling contract with Abercrombie and Fitch:

“You spend your weekends outdoors. You mock that chilly air with your model #4225 Fleece and Bear Lined Zip-Up Hoody. This all natural beauty keeps you warm all day long—even warm enough to leave a little out there for the ladies…Perhaps later by the campfire, you can lid your head with the soft fluffy hood. Fire not keeping you warm enough? How ‘bout them eyes?... Get yours today at Abercrombie and Fitch.”

kevinOdin ran track this year and continues to play soccer. His focus is engineering and he is gifted at Lego creations. He’s very funny and keeps us on our toes. He’s growing tall and gaining that teenage spirit, but he still loves us. He’s a kind hearted animal loving softy and responsible beyond his years.

Trooths: We’ve been frustrated with how fast he is growing up and wanted to slow that down a little. He’s just maturing quickly and thinks he can do things on his own. For example, here he took his brothers on a Limo ride to Disneyland! I didn’t believe it either, but look at the next pic: That’s him getting a pin all by himself.

Being the sound parent I am, and incredibly gifted at solving problems efficiently: I’ve allowed him to start stunting his growth.

kevinBrad and Gwen continue to laugh and grow old. Well, not all of us in the house are growing older; Gilligan and Skipper found it last year, and then Kevin recently located the fountain of anti-youth. But we still have Bob the fish, Hammy the hamster, Perry, Smoky, and Pumpkin the bunnies, and our new kittens: Professor and Mary Ann.

It’s pretty simple: we like to play with each other, our family, and our friends. We enjoy the occasional vacation, but cherish the fun gatherings we have with our family and friends just as much. We love Rehab, holidays, watching movies, and just spending any time together. We love to visit and we love visitors, so here’s to seeing you in the next year, to good times for you and your family, and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Kevin=Keeping the coyote population flourishing, one meal at a time.
